The L’Oreal Paris Voluminous Lash Paradise mascara is worth buying if you want volume and lift from one fast coat. The narrow straight wand gets close under the lash line, which thick wands never manage for me. Buy it, knowing two coats is where the glam look actually lands.

Quick Verdict
One quick coat, done fast and not even looking in a mirror, gave me volume, lift and separation. That’s the whole argument for this mascara. I’m pretty happy with that, and I’ll definitely keep using it.
Buy if you:
- struggle to get thick wands close up under the lower lash line
- want a quick one-coat look on a weekday morning
- build to two coats when you want the fuller glam look
- want drugstore pricing instead of a luxury mascara
Skip if you:
- want full drama from a single coat, because one pass is volume and lift, not full glam
- need a waterproof formula, this one is the washable Blackest Black
- prefer a curved wand, this is a straight one

The Wand Is Narrow, And That’s the Point
First thing I did was pull the wand out and look at it, because that’s the part that decides everything for me. It’s narrow enough that I could press it right up under the lower lash line without poking myself in the eye, something I can’t do with the chunky barrel wands on half the mascaras I own. That access alone is the win before any product touches a lash. You can check the current price and availability here if you’re already sold on that alone.
Then I did one quick coat. Fast, light strokes, not even looking in a mirror, just looking into the camera. That’s pretty good. That’s actually given me a lot of volume, a lot of lift, some separation which is great. I put the wand back in one more time because it seems like it’s definitely picking up a good amount every time.
What a Drugstore Price Buys You Here
You’re getting 0.25 fl oz of a paraben-free, sulfate-free, silicone-free formula for drugstore money, and the result from one coat held up. That’s the value math. L’Oreal claims 20x volume and 2x length from a consumer study, and I didn’t measure that myself. What I can tell you is the wand loaded well every single dip, so you’re not fighting a dry tube to build a look.

Against a luxury mascara at three or four times the price, the comparison is this: I wasn’t careful, I wasn’t using a mirror, and I still liked what I saw. That’s a tube doing the work instead of the technique. There’s a 30-day refund window too, so the risk of trying it is small. Pricing shifts constantly, so see today’s price on the listing.
Two Coats, And Where the Glam Look Shows Up
The second coat is where this mascara stops being good and starts looking intentional. I went back in with a fuller stroke on each eye and the density jump was immediate, denser, flutterier, the kind of lash that reads across a room. One coat is the commute; two coats is the dinner.
So the trade-off is time. If a single coat is all you’ve got on a rushed morning, you’ll get volume, lift and separation, and that’s solid value for a weekday face. If you want the dense, fluttery version, budget the extra thirty seconds. This is the washable Blackest Black too, not the waterproof version, so plan around that if you’re a crier at weddings.
Where the L’Oreal Paris Mascara Lands for Me
I’ll definitely be using this more, and I don’t say that about every mascara I open. The deciding factor is the narrow wand paired with a formula that keeps loading, because that combination means I don’t have to be precise to get a decent result. The narrow wand paired with the formula that keeps loading is the win.
Buy it for the weekday coat, stay for the two-coat version on days you actually want to look like you tried. At drugstore pricing with a 30-day return window, the cost of being wrong is a single trip back to the shelf.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does it come in a waterproof version?
The one I used is the Washable Blackest Black, listed as moisture resistant rather than waterproof. So it’s designed to come off with your normal cleanser at night. If you specifically need waterproof, check the shade and formula name on the listing before you add to cart.
Is the formula okay for sensitive skin or contact lens wearers?
It’s paraben-free, sulfate-free and silicone-free, which is a reasonable starting point. L’Oreal lists it as suitable for combination skin and a range of skin tones. If your eyes react easily, do a small patch on the outer lashes first and see how the day goes before you commit to a full application.
How long does a tube of mascara like this last?
Most mascaras are meant to be replaced around three months after opening, regardless of how much product is left in the 8.5 ml tube. The formula dries and bacteria builds on the wand. If it starts flaking or smelling off before then, it’s done early.
