Prime Prometics PrimeLash is worth buying if you have thin, mature lashes and want definition without fighting a fat wand. The long narrow brush gets right down to the lash line and lifts and separates in one quick coat. Buy it, knowing colored shades really want a second coat.

How this review was made: written from my own video review of this product. Every opinion here is my own, from using it myself.
Quick Verdict
I hadn’t worn blue mascara since probably the 80s, and one quick coat of this opened my eye up more than I expected. The wand is long and narrow, so it gets right down to the lash line and lifts and separates. Colored shades want that second coat though.
Buy if you:
- have thin lashes that fat wands just smush together
- want colored mascara that shifts your eye colour, not a costume look
- take your makeup off in a hurry and hate scrubbing
- want something gentle on lashes if your skin is more mature
Skip if you:
- want full payoff from one coat, because the blue needed a second pass to read properly
- only ever wear black and don’t care about the eight shades
- expect drugstore pricing, this one sits in the Ulta-range bracket

Royal Blue, and I Haven’t Touched Blue Since the 80s
I picked royal blue, which is so fun, and look at this color. I have kind of a bluey green eye, and I find this blue tends to make my eyes look a little more green. Isn’t that pretty? That’s the part I didn’t predict. If I wanted to go the other way and look more blue, I think the emerald green would probably do that. You can check the current price and shade list here before you commit to a colour.
I did one quick coat first. You could see how it kind of opened the eye. Then the other side, then I went back over it for a second. With a colored mascara I think you do want that second coat, which is the one real catch here. Black would probably be fine in one.
Where the mascara definition actually comes from
The wand. That’s it, that’s the answer. I love the wand, and I find it’s because it’s long and narrow that it’s really easy to just get right down to your lash line and lift and separate them. Thick wands have always been my problem. They can’t get close and up under the eye, so you end up with a clumped-together look instead of separated lashes.

This one is the hourglass shape, and the brand says it was designed with over 1,200 women over 50 specifically to comb thin lashes and hold up to a shaky hand. I can’t test 1,200 women, but I can tell you the mascara definition I got from one quick coat was real separation, not just darker lashes. There are eight shades, including the mulberry, which is kind of a burgundy and which I’d love to try next.
It stayed put through a full filming session, no transfer to my lower lid, no flecks on my cheek, which is the exact moment a bad mascara always gives itself away.
Taking it off at the end of the day
It’s very easy to take off. That matters more than people think with a tubing formula, because the point of tubing is that it slides off with warm water and gentle pressure rather than needing you to rub at thin lashes with remover. The formula is water-based rather than oil-based, which is the reason the brand gives for it being kinder around the eye area.
Ongoing cost is just the tube itself at 1.13 oz, no brush heads, no refills. Current pricing is on the product listing, and it sits above drugstore but in normal Ulta territory, so the trade-off is paying a bit more for a wand that doesn’t fight you.
Who I’d hand this to
It is made for more mature skin, and that’s who I’d point it at first. I think it’s gentle on my eyelashes and it looks really pretty, which is a fairly low bar to clear on paper and a surprisingly hard one in practice when your lashes are thinner than they were. If you’ve given up on mascara because every wand feels too big for what you’ve got left to work with, this is an easy one to try.
If you only wear black and your lashes are already thick, save your money, a cheaper drugstore tube will coat them just as well. But if you’ve been squinting at the colored mascara display and talking yourself out of it, this is the wand that will actually make it work.
Pros
- Long narrow wand gets right down to the lash line and lifts and separates
- Royal blue made my bluey green eyes read greener, a nice shift rather than a costume
- One quick coat visibly opened the eye
- Very easy to take off
- Feels gentle on thin lashes
Cons
- Colored shades really want a second coat to read properly
- Priced above drugstore mascara
Frequently Asked Questions
Does it contain parabens?
Yes. The black shade’s ingredient list includes methylparaben and propylparaben, plus beeswax and parfum. If you avoid parabens, beeswax or fragrance, this one is out for you.
Will it work over lash extensions or false lashes?
Keep it on natural lashes. Tubing formulas slide off with warm water, the same mechanism that makes removal so easy is exactly what can loosen extension bonds and dissolve false-lash glue before you’re ready.
How long does an open tube last?
The usual mascara rule applies, roughly three months after opening. It’s a water-based formula, so pumping air into the tube dries it out faster. Twist the wand out rather than pumping and you’ll get more of the 1.13 oz used.
