The Etekcity Digital Body Weight Bathroom Scale caught my attention right away, and I own this scale and use it regularly, so I wanted to share what I think makes it worth a look, and where it has its limits, so you can decide if it fits what you need.

Why I Picked This Scale

So, the problem is pretty simple. Most bathroom scales either feel flimsy under your feet, have a display that is impossible to read in a dim bathroom, or cost a lot more than a basic home scale should. I wanted something that would sit flat on a tile floor, give me a consistent reading, and not frustrate me first thing in the morning. The Etekcity Digital Body Weight Bathroom Scale checked those boxes.

The full listing title for the product is: Etekcity Digital Body Weight Bathroom Scale, 6mm Tempered Glass, 400 lbs Large Blue LCD Backlight Display, High Precision Measurements for Home Bathroom Use. That is a lot of words, but the core pitch is straightforward: tempered glass platform, big readable display, up to 400 lbs. Let me walk through what that actually means in day-to-day use.

The Platform: 6mm Tempered Glass That Feels Solid

When you first step on a glass scale, there is a natural instinct to be cautious. The Etekcity Digital Body Weight Bathroom Scale uses a 6mm tempered glass platform, and I will say it feels noticeably sturdy underfoot. It is not thin or flexy. The platform measures 11.8 x 11.8 inches, which is large enough to stand on comfortably without feeling like you are balancing on a postage stamp.

The scale sits very low to the floor at just 0.9 inches high, which means stepping on and off is easy. Anti-skid padding on the base keeps it from sliding on tile, which I definitely appreciate because a scale that shifts while you are stepping on it is both annoying and inaccurate.

It is light enough to tuck away if you do not want it sitting out all the time, though I keep mine out because picking it up and putting it back down every day would get old quickly.

The Display: Blue Backlit LCD Is the Right Call

This is one of the features I really like. The large blue backlit LCD lights up clearly when you step on the scale, so you can read your weight without squinting or leaning in awkward directions. The display itself measures 2.8 x 1.3 inches, which is a decent size for a bathroom scale in this category.

It also shows indicator alerts you actually want to know about: a low battery warning so you are not caught off guard, and an overload indication if the weight exceeds the 400 lb capacity. Those small quality-of-life touches matter more than they sound. Nothing is worse than a scale that just goes blank with no explanation.

The auto on/off feature means you just step on it and it activates. Step off and it shuts down on its own. The scale uses 2 x AAA batteries, which come pre-installed, so you can use it right out of the box without hunting for batteries.

Accuracy and How It Works

The Etekcity Digital Body Weight Bathroom Scale uses four high-precision sensors and delivers readings at a 0.2 lb / 0.1 kg resolution. It handles weights from 11 lbs up to 400 lbs (180 kg), which covers a wide range of users.

One thing worth calling out: Etekcity Digital is clear that for best results you need to place it on a hard, flat surface. Carpet or soft surfaces will throw off the reading. I use mine on bathroom tile and get consistent results. You step on gently, stand still without shifting your weight or moving your feet, and the display flashes and locks in your reading. The auto-calibration happens on its own each time, so there is no manual reset between uses.

The process feels reliable. I have not found myself second-guessing the number or stepping on and off three times trying to get a consistent reading, which I have definitely experienced with cheaper scales in the past. That consistency is what makes this one genuinely useful rather than just decorative.

You can switch between pounds and kilograms, which is a simple but appreciated option if you track your weight in metric units or share the scale with someone who does.

Design: Minimal, Silver, and Easy to Place

The scale has a clean silver look with the clear glass platform. It is the kind of thing that sits on a bathroom floor without demanding attention, which I think is exactly right for a scale. Etekcity Digital calls the design philosophy minimal, and it delivers on that. It does not look cheap or plasticky, and it would not look out of place in a bedroom or living room if that is where you need to keep it.

The whole unit is compact and thin enough to slide under a vanity or against a wall when not in use. I keep it in a consistent spot on the tile, which also helps with getting consistent readings since the surface is always the same.

Who This Scale Is For

If you want a simple, no-app, no-Bluetooth scale that just tells you your weight clearly and accurately, this is a very solid pick. The Etekcity Digital Body Weight Bathroom Scale is designed for straightforward home weight monitoring. There are no body composition metrics, no Wi-Fi syncing, no smartphone integration. If you need those features, you will want to look at a smart scale at a higher price point.

But if what you need is a reliable reading on a sturdy platform with a readable display, this scale is pretty hard to argue with. It is a great fit for anyone who wants something simple and dependable, without paying for features they will never use.

The 400 lb capacity also makes it one of the more inclusive options in its price range. That is not always a given at this price, so it is worth noting.

Setup and Day-to-Day Use

Setup is as simple as it gets. The batteries come pre-installed. You pull the tab, place it on a hard floor, and it is ready to go. No app download, no pairing, no calibration ritual. The quick start guide is included if you need it, but most people will not.

Day to day, the auto on/off makes it completely effortless. Step on, get your reading, step off. The whole process takes a few seconds. The display is bright enough that I do not need to turn on the bathroom light to read it in the morning, which is a small thing that I really like in practice.

Trade-Offs Worth Knowing

A few trade-offs to keep in mind. First, this is a non-smart scale. No data tracking, no trends over time, no app graphs. If you want to look back at a month of readings, you will need to track that yourself. That is a deliberate design choice for a scale at this price, but it is worth knowing upfront.

Second, the scale requires a hard, flat surface to give accurate readings. If your bathroom has only a bath mat or carpet, you will need to either place it elsewhere or accept that the readings may not be as reliable. That is a real-world constraint, not a flaw exactly, but something to plan around.

Third, the minimum weight is 11 lbs, so it is not designed for weighing small objects or packages. It is strictly a personal weight scale.

Finally, the glass platform does show fingerprints and water spots, so a quick wipe-down now and then keeps it looking clean. That is pretty standard for any glass surface, so it is not a dealbreaker, just a minor upkeep note.

Bottom Line: Worth a Look

So, here is where I land. The Etekcity Digital Body Weight Bathroom Scale does what it promises. It is accurate within 0.2 lbs, the platform is genuinely sturdy, the blue backlit display is easy to read, and the whole thing works right out of the box with no fuss. It is one of the better simple bathroom scales I have come across.

I am definitely happy with it as a no-nonsense daily scale. If you want something straightforward and reliable without dealing with an app, I think this is worth a look. It is not going to wow you with features, but it will give you a consistent, clear reading every time you step on it, and that is exactly what a bathroom scale should do.
