The Comfy ultrasonic jewelry cleaner is worth buying if you have tarnished silver sitting unworn in a drawer. One five-minute cycle with warm tap water and two drops of solution took my bracelets from dull and grimy to bright enough to gift. Buy it, with one sizing caveat.

Quick Verdict

These bracelets were super, super, super dirty and tarnished, and five minutes later they looked so much brighter. One of them didn’t sit fully under the water, so that side came out with grime still on it. My fault, not the machine’s.

Buy if you:

  • have tarnished silver bracelets you’ve stopped wearing
  • want to clean up jewelry you’re giving as a gift
  • don’t want to scrub chain links by hand
  • already own or will buy a cleaning solution to add a couple of drops

The Bracelets Were Embarrassing

I had two bracelets sitting in a drawer, quite tarnished, and I’d stopped wearing them entirely. That’s the whole reason I bought this ultrasonic jewelry cleaner on Amazon. Not a collection, not diamonds. Two bracelets I wanted to give as a gift and couldn’t, because they looked like they’d been through something.

One practical note: this cleaner’s price fluctuates enough to matter. It’s been considerably cheaper than its current level at points over the past three months, so run it through a price-tracker before you buy rather than taking the listing at face value.

Filling It: Warm Water, Two Drops, Done

Setup took under two minutes. There’s a Max line inside the tank, and you fill to it with warm water from the tap. Not hot. Warm water works best to loosen the dirt and the grime and the oil, which is the part I didn’t expect to matter as much as it does.

You can just use water. I added two drops of the Kunphy cleaning solution because I’d heard a couple of drops makes the cleaning that much better. I went with two rather than three. No measuring, just squeeze and in it goes.

It came with tweezers and a cloth. The tweezers are for lifting pieces out of the water, and the cloth is for drying and shining afterwards. I used the cloth and I think it does help a little with the shine, so don’t toss it in a drawer.

Five Minutes of Vibrating, and the Mistake I Made

It runs a full five-minute cycle, and I left the lid off so I could watch it. You can see it kind of vibrating in there, and if you hold a piece you can feel it going through the metal. It’s not loud and it doesn’t need anything from you once it’s plugged in. You just let it finish its cycle.

Here’s where I got it wrong. My bracelets were a tiny bit bigger than the tank wanted. One of them sat beautifully, fully submerged, no problem. The other kept sticking out slightly on one side. I repositioned it mid-cycle to try to get both sides covered, but I never fully got it under.

I probably should have squeezed it smaller to make it fit. I just didn’t want to force it on the first go round. And it showed: that bracelet came out with a bit of dirt and grime still sitting at the bottom where the water never reached. So this is less a flaw in the cleaner and more a thing you have to pay attention to. Whatever’s not under the water isn’t getting cleaned. Flip the piece, run it again, that’s the fix.

The one that sat fully submerged came out looking genuinely giftable, bright enough that I had to check it was the same bracelet. Five minutes, warm water, two drops of solution. That’s it. The tarnish that had kept it in a drawer for months was gone.

Would I Keep Using the Ultrasonic Jewelry Cleaner?

Yes, and I’d run a second cycle without thinking twice. If you really wanted to, you could put it in again, and on the bracelet that didn’t fit I’d flip it and go once more. Five minutes is a short enough commitment that a second round costs you nothing but patience.

Tank size is the one real limitation. Rings, chains, and studs drop in and come out clean, no repositioning, no second pass. Chunky or rigid bracelets are a different story: mine barely cleared the walls, and the side that stuck out above the waterline came out with grime still on it. Budget for a second five-minute cycle if your pieces are on the larger end. Current pricing is on the product page on Amazon, and it’s a fairly popular one, with Amazon reporting more than 6,000 bought in the past month. It handles small pieces and chains effortlessly; chunky bracelets need a second pass.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you use it on jewelry with soft stones like pearls or opals?

I wouldn’t. I only ran metal bracelets through mine, and ultrasonic vibration is generally not recommended for porous or soft stones, or for anything glued rather than set. Stick to solid metal pieces unless your jeweler says otherwise.

Do you need the cleaning solution or is water enough?

Water alone works, the solution is optional. I added two drops of the Kunphy solution because I’d heard it improves results, so I can’t tell you how my bracelets would have come out on plain water. It’s a separate purchase either way.

How do you dry jewelry after a cycle?

Lift it out with the included tweezers and buff it with the cloth that comes in the box. The cloth does a bit more than just dry, I think it helps with the shine too. Don’t leave pieces sitting wet.
