The MAELREG Women’s Lightweight Golf Dress with 2 Pockets is worth buying if you want a stretchy, UPF 50+ golf dress with built-in shorts that doesn’t ride up when you bend for your ball. It’s a pull-on polo-collar dress with real pockets for tees and a ball marker. Buy it for golf or tennis, skip it if you want a dressier non-athletic look.

How this review was made: written from my own video review of this product. Every opinion here is my own, from using it myself.

Quick Verdict

I bent down for my ball expecting the dress to ride up, and it didn’t. That one test sold me on the built-in shorts, and the pockets for tees and my ball marker closed the deal.

Buy if you:

  • Want built-in shorts that actually stay put when you bend over
  • Need real pockets for tees and a ball marker, not decorative ones
  • Golf or play tennis and want sun coverage without a separate layer
  • Want something that looks like a dress, not sportswear

Trying It On Was the Whole Point

I went in skeptical whether a golf dress with built-in shorts could look like a dress rather than a costume from the sporting goods bin. Out of the box, the polo collar and clean drape passed that test immediately, no mesh panels, no contrast piping, nothing that reads “athletic wear” until you’re already mid-swing. Standing on the first tee, I felt like I was wearing a dress, not a performance kit.

What You Get For the Price Versus a Separate Set

One piece replaces three: a dress, shorts, and a layer for sun coverage. The MAELREG dress is built from 87% polyester and 13% spandex, which is what gives it that 4-way stretch instead of a stiff golf-shirt feel. Compare that to buying a separate skort, a compression short, and a UPF sleeve, and this one piece is doing the job of a whole outfit. The built-in shorts have their own pockets, so I’m not carrying a phone, tees, and a ball marker in my hand or stuffing them somewhere awkward.

Does the Stretch Actually Hold Up Mid-Swing?

WOWENY Golf Dresses for Women Long Sleeve 1/4 Zip Tennis Dress with Shorts and Pockets UPF 50+ Workout Athletic Dress: W

The stretch held through the bending motion that wrecks most athletic dresses, no ride-up, no bunching. That’s the only test that matters on a golf course, and a lot of dresses pass the mirror version while failing the real one. This one didn’t fail.

Staying Cool Under UPF 50+ Coverage

Long sleeves + UPF 50+ usually means heat trap; this one breathes throughout an 18-hole round in direct sun. That combination is the trickier part to get right, because sun protection and breathability usually trade off against each other. This one didn’t feel like I was wearing a heavier layer just to get sun coverage, which matters if you’re out for a full 18 holes in direct sun.

What to Check Before You Order Your Size

Runs true to size across the range I tested; if you’re between sizes, size up rather than down, the 87% polyester blend has recovery but not much forgiveness when it’s too snug through the hips. The built-in shorts, functional pockets, and UPF 50+ coverage mean you’re not juggling separate pieces before a round. For golf or tennis in the sun, nothing else in this price category does all three at once.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I wear this golf dress for tennis or other outdoor sports?

Yes, the stretch and built-in shorts work the same way for tennis or any activity that has you bending, lunging, or swinging. It’s not golf-specific hardware, just a flexible athletic dress with sun coverage built in.

Do the built-in shorts stay attached or can they come loose?

The dress and shorts connect with buttons rather than being sewn as one permanent piece. That means you can take them apart if needed, but they’re designed to stay connected during normal wear and movement.

Is this dress machine washable?

The polyester-spandex blend typically handles a gentle machine wash cycle fine, but I’d skip the dryer’s high heat to protect the stretch and UPF coating over time. Air drying keeps the fabric’s recovery intact longer.

It loses a little ground on value only because you’re paying for a dress, shorts, and UPF layer bundled into one price tag. The bend-down test with no ride-up is what justifies the higher scores; without that, it’s just another stretchy athletic dress. Skip it if you want sleeveless coverage; everyone else playing golf or tennis in the sun should be looking at this one.
