Watch Our Review

I picked up this titanium cutting board after one too many rounds of oiling a wooden board that still warped and still smelled like onions. The pitch was simple: no coatings, no babying, dishwasher-safe, and easier on knife edges than hard plastic. I wanted to find out if that held up past the unboxing. If you want to check the current price while you read, the Taima titanium cutting board is here.

Quick Verdict

Thin enough that I doubted it, strong enough that I stopped doubting after the first round of heavy chopping. It goes in the dishwasher, both sides work, and it looks good sitting out on my counter. That’s a lot of boxes checked for one flat piece of titanium.

Buy if you:

  • want something easier on your knife edges than a hard plastic board
  • are done babying a wooden board that can’t touch the dishwasher
  • do a lot of heavy chopping, slicing and dicing
  • like kitchen gear that looks good left out on the counter

Why I Picked Up A Titanium Cutting Board

Here’s the thing I keep coming back to. A cutting board is one of those items you use every single day and rarely think about, right up until it warps, splits, or holds onto the smell of last night’s onions. This one set out to fix a few of those complaints at once.

What The Titanium Board Is Made Of

It’s certified pure titanium, and this is the V2, the second version of the design. No coatings, no chemicals baked into the surface. The brand leans hard on it being toxin-free and naturally antibacterial, which for a food-prep surface is the kind of claim that matters more than it does on, say, a phone case.

You can buy it as a single board or as a 3-piece set in small, medium and large, and there’s an optional non-slip mat if you want it to stay planted. There’s a lifetime warranty on the line and a 120-day trial window, so it isn’t a buy-it-and-hope situation.

Thin But Still Really Strong

The first thing I noticed was how thin it is. Slim enough that it makes you wonder if it can take a beating. It can. It’s nice and thin but it’s still really strong for heavy chopping, slicing and dicing. I leaned into it, no soft carrots-only treatment, and it didn’t flex or feel flimsy underneath the knife.

And I really like this because both sides can be used. It’s a design choice that changes how you work. Raw meat on one side, veggies on the flip side, no need to grab a second board and no cross-contamination shuffle. When you’re moving fast through a meal, flipping the board over instead of washing it mid-prep is one of those quiet conveniences you notice every time.

The titanium is marketed as easier on your knives than hard plastic, and after regular use my edges haven’t shown the kind of early dulling I’d get from a dense poly board. I can’t run a lab test, but nothing here suggests the claim is a stretch, the surface has a slight give to it that hard plastic simply doesn’t.

The Firm Feel Takes A Minute To Get Used To

Titanium is not wood, and you feel that difference the first time your knife lands. A wooden board gives you that soft, forgiving thud. This one is firmer, and the sound and feedback under the blade are different, a bit more solid and direct. It didn’t bother me for long, but if you’ve cut on wood your whole life, there’s a short adjustment where your hand expects one thing and gets another.

Lets look at this titanium cutting board!: A woman slicing vegetables on a thin silver titanium cutting board on a brigh

That firmness is exactly why it’s easier to clean and why it can go in the dishwasher, so it’s a trade, not a flaw. Worth knowing before it lands on your counter, though. If quiet, cushioned chopping is your thing, that’s the one spot where wood still has a personality this board doesn’t.

Who This Titanium Cutting Board Is For

This is for the person who has pulled a warped, cracked board out of the sink and oiled it anyway because replacing it felt like a hassle. The dishwasher compatibility alone closes that loop, no oiling schedule, no hand-wash-only guilt, just load it and move on.

It also fits anyone who cares about a toxin-free, antibacterial prep surface and doesn’t want plastic that dulls their knives. And if you’re the type who leaves nice tools out on display, I also think it looks really good on my counter, so it earns its spot instead of hiding in a cabinet. The 3-piece set makes sense for a busy kitchen where you’d want a small board for garlic and a large one for a whole dinner’s worth of prep.

Titanium Board Versus A Wooden Board

Wood wins on feel, titanium wins on almost everything else. That’s the short version. A wooden board is softer under the blade and looks warm and classic, and plenty of people love that. But wood can’t go in the dishwasher, it soaks up moisture and odors, it needs oiling, and over time it splits.

The titanium board reverses those drawbacks: dishwasher-safe, no oiling required, resists odor absorption, and both sides usable. It’s supposed to be easier on your knives than plastic and it doesn’t hold bacteria the way a scored wooden surface can. If you’re deciding between the two, ask yourself whether you value the soft feel of wood more than the low-maintenance life of titanium. For me, the easy cleanup tipped it.

A Few Tips Before You Buy

Grab the non-slip mat if you chop hard or fast, because a thin, smooth board on a smooth counter can travel a little. It’s a cheap add-on that keeps things planted. Decide up front between the single board and the 3-piece set too, because if you cook real meals, having small, medium and large means you’re never using a giant board to mince one clove of garlic.

And lean on that 120-day trial. Give yourself a couple of weeks to adjust to the firmer feel before you decide. That’s plenty of time to run it through the dishwasher a bunch, do some heavy chopping, and see if it earns a permanent place on your counter.

Pros

  • Nice and thin but still really strong for heavy chopping, slicing and dicing
  • Both sides can be used, which cuts down on cross-contamination and mid-prep washing
  • Goes in the dishwasher and works great, no oiling or babying
  • Supposed to be easier on your knives than a hard plastic board
  • Looks really good left out on the counter

Cons

  • The firm titanium feel takes a short adjustment if you’re used to wood
  • Thin and smooth, so it can slide a bit without the non-slip mat
  • Priced above a basic plastic or wooden board

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the titanium cutting board dishwasher safe?

Yes, it goes in the dishwasher and works great. That was one of my favorite parts since wooden boards can’t do that. No hand-washing ritual, no oiling, just load it and go.

Will it dull my knives?

It’s marketed as easier on your knives than a hard plastic board, which is one reason I picked it up. Titanium is firmer than wood, so it won’t feel as cushioned, but the pitch is a hygienic surface that’s kinder to your edges than plastic.

Can you really use both sides?

Yes, both sides are usable. I keep one side for raw meat and flip to the other for veggies, which saves grabbing a second board. It’s a simple thing that makes fast prep cleaner.

Does it slide around on the counter?

It can move a little because it’s thin and smooth, especially during heavy chopping. There’s an optional non-slip mat accessory for exactly this. If you cut fast or hard, that mat is worth adding.

What sizes does it come in?

You can get a single board or a 3-piece set in small, medium and large. The set makes sense for a busy kitchen where one board is never the right size for everything. Exact dimensions aren’t listed on the product page, so check the current listing for measurements.

Is there a warranty or trial period?

Yes, the line carries a lifetime warranty and a 120-day trial. That trial window is generous enough to run it through daily use and dishwasher cycles before you commit. Use it.

What makes titanium worth it over stainless steel?

The brand markets it as certified pure titanium that’s toxin-free and naturally antibacterial, with no coatings or chemicals. One customer claims to have run spark and XRF tests showing competitors’ boards were steel alloys instead of pure titanium. If purity matters to you, that’s the selling point they lean on hardest.

Can I cut raw meat and vegetables on the same board?

Yes, and the double-sided design helps here. Keep meat on one face and produce on the other, then run the whole thing through the dishwasher afterward. The non-porous titanium surface won’t trap juices the way a scored wooden board can.

Is the single board or the 3-piece set the better buy?

The single board is the easy entry point if you just want to try titanium; the set is the better value if you cook full meals. Having small for garlic and large for a whole dinner’s prep means you’re not overusing one board. Check the current pricing on both before deciding.
