Is there anything more satisfying than hanging a beautiful wreath on your front door that you made yourself? Especially one that screams red, white, and blue pride! Whether you’re a seasoned crafter or just getting started, these 10 easy 4th of July wreaths are totally doable in an afternoon β€” no special skills required.

I’ve rounded up wreaths for every style, budget, and skill level. Some use simple dollar store finds, others use materials you probably already have at home. All of them are festive, fun, and guaranteed to make your neighbors stop and smile.

Let’s get crafting! πŸŽ†

What You’ll Need (General Supplies)

Before we dive in, here’s a quick list of supplies that come up again and again across these projects. Grab these and you’ll be ready for almost any wreath on this list:

Most of these can be found at Dollar Tree, Walmart, Michael’s, or Amazon. I’ll note any specialty items as we go!

1. Classic Red, White & Blue Ribbon Wreath

This is the wreath that started it all for me, and it’s still one of my favorites. All you need is a wire wreath form and three colors of wired ribbon.

What you need: Wire wreath form, red ribbon, white ribbon, blue ribbon, hot glue gun

How to make it: Cut your ribbon into 6-inch strips. Fold each strip in half and loop it onto the wire frame, alternating colors as you go. Keep adding strips until the wreath is full and fluffy. Finish with a big bow at the top using your favorite ribbon.

Time: About 45 minutes

Skill level: Total beginner

Pro tip: Use a mix of textures β€” a satin ribbon paired with a burlap ribbon adds so much dimension!

2. Dollar Store Patriotic Deco Mesh Wreath

deco mesh diy wreath 4th of july

Deco mesh wreaths look incredibly impressive but are secretly one of the easiest wreaths to make. And when you source your supplies from the dollar store, the whole project costs under $15.

What you need: Wire wreath form, red deco mesh, blue deco mesh, white ribbon, patriotic picks or small flags

How to make it: Twist and poke sections of deco mesh through the wire frame, alternating red and blue as you work your way around. Fill in gaps with the white ribbon. Hot glue your patriotic picks or mini flags throughout to add color and detail.

Time: About 1 hour

Skill level: Beginner

Pro tip: Don’t be afraid to really scrunch and fluff the mesh β€” the more voluminous, the better it looks!

3. Burlap and Stars Farmhouse Wreath

If your home has a farmhouse or rustic vibe, this one is for you. It’s got that perfectly imperfect charm that looks beautiful on a wooden front door.

What you need: Grapevine wreath, natural burlap ribbon, red and blue ribbon, metal star picks, red berries or small florals

How to make it: Weave strips of burlap through and around the grapevine wreath. Add pops of red and blue ribbon by tucking and gluing them throughout. Cluster your metal star picks and berries on one side for a natural, loose look.

Time: 30–45 minutes

Skill level: Beginner

Pro tip: A grapevine wreath is forgiving β€” you can tuck things in without any glue and it still holds beautifully!

4. Patriotic Sunflower Wreath

Sunflowers scream summer, and they look absolutely gorgeous paired with patriotic colors. This wreath is cheerful, bright, and so easy to put together.

What you need: Foam wreath form, faux sunflowers, red and blue ribbon, white floral picks or baby’s breath, hot glue gun

How to make it: Wrap your foam wreath form with ribbon as the base. Hot glue sunflowers all the way around, then fill in the gaps with red and blue florals and white picks. Add a ribbon bow for the finishing touch.

Time: About 1 hour

Skill level: Beginner

Pro tip: Grab sunflower bunches from Dollar Tree β€” you get several stems per bunch for just $1.25!

5. Paper Rosette Wreath

This one is a little more time-intensive, but it’s a showstopper. Paper rosettes are surprisingly simple to make, and the finished result looks like something straight out of a boutique shop.

What you need: Red, white, and blue cardstock or scrapbook paper, wire or foam wreath form, hot glue gun

How to make it: Cut strips of paper about 1 inch wide and 12 inches long. Fan-fold each strip accordion-style, pinch the center, and hot glue the ends together to form a rosette. Make about 30–40 rosettes and hot glue them onto your wreath form until it’s fully covered.

Time: 1.5–2 hours

Skill level: Beginner-intermediate

Pro tip: Play with different shades β€” light blue, navy, crimson, and soft pink all work beautifully together for a more elegant look.

6. Wreath Made from Mini American Flags

Yes, this is as easy as it sounds β€” and it looks absolutely stunning on a front door. This wreath is almost entirely made from mini American flags, which you can find in multipacks for just a few dollars.

What you need: Foam wreath form, pack of mini American flags, hot glue gun, red ribbon for bow

How to make it: Remove the flags from their sticks (or keep the sticks and poke them into the foam!). Hot glue or poke the flags all around the wreath form, slightly overlapping each one. Add a big red ribbon bow at the top.

Time: 30 minutes or less

Skill level: Absolute beginner β€” this one is great to do with kids!

Pro tip: Mix large and small flags for more visual interest.

7. Patriotic Peony Wreath

Peonies are having such a moment right now, and they look absolutely dreamy in red, white, and blue. This wreath feels romantic and elegant without being over the top

What you need: Wire or foam wreath form, faux peonies in red, white, and blue, greenery picks, hot glue gun

How to make it: Hot glue a base layer of greenery around the wreath form. Arrange your peonies in clusters β€” try grouping them in threes for a natural look. Fill in gaps with smaller florals or greenery.

Time: About 1 hour

Skill level: Beginner

Pro tip: Let one side of the wreath be “heavier” with florals for a more organic, loose design that looks professionally made.

8. Yarn Pom Pom Wreath

Vertical portrait photo of a fun and fluffy wreath covered in chunky yarn pom poms in red, white, and blue, hanging on a white door, bright and playful, soft natural light, cozy and whimsical craft photography style

This is the perfect wreath to make with kids! Yarn pom poms are irresistibly fun to make, and a wreath full of fluffy red, white, and blue poms is pure festive joy.

What you need: Foam or cardboard wreath form, red yarn, white yarn, blue yarn, scissors, hot glue gun

How to make it: Make pom poms by wrapping yarn around your fingers (or a fork) about 30–40 times, tying off the center tightly, and cutting the loops. Fluff them out into a ball shape. Hot glue the poms all over your wreath form until it’s completely covered.

Time: 1–2 hours (depending on how many poms you make)

Skill level: Beginner β€” and so fun with kids!

Pro tip: Vary your pom sizes for a more textured, dimensional look.

9. Patriotic Lantern Wreath

Vertical portrait photo of a styled summer porch vignette featuring a small patriotic wreath in red white and blue ribbon and star picks draped over the handle of a black lantern sitting on a white wood surface, soft natural light, cozy farmhouse lifestyle photography,

Okay, this one is a little different β€” instead of hanging on a door, this wreath is designed to sit on a lantern or be used as a table centerpiece. It’s one of the most versatile projects on this list!

What you need: Small wire wreath form, 8–10 inch, red, white, and blue ribbon, faux florals, star picks, hot glue gun

How to make it: Wrap the small wreath form in ribbon as your base. Add clusters of florals and star picks, concentrating them on one section. Hang it on a lantern handle or prop it against a lantern on a table.

Time: 30–45 minutes

Skill level: Beginner

Pro tip: Make two or three matching ones for a gorgeous patriotic vignette on your porch or entryway table!

10. Patriotic Lambs Ear Wreath

Vertical portrait photo of a soft and beautiful wreath made of silvery green faux lamb's ear leaves with clusters of deep red and navy blue berries and a simple ribbon bow, hanging on a wood door, soft diffused natural light, elegant and romantic garden style

Lamb’s ear is one of the prettiest and most underrated materials for wreaths. Its soft, silvery leaves give a beautiful, almost ethereal look β€” and they pair so well with deep red and navy.

What you need: Grapevine or wire wreath form, faux lamb’s ear stems, red and navy florals or berries, ribbon, hot glue gun

How to make it: Attach your lamb’s ear stems around the wreath form, layering and overlapping to get full coverage. Add clusters of red and navy florals or berries throughout. Finish with a simple ribbon bow.

Time: About 1 hour

Skill level: Beginner-intermediate

Pro tip: This wreath looks stunning indoors too β€” try it on a mirror or above a fireplace mantel for a patriotic interior moment!

Tips for Making Your Wreath Last

Before I let you go, a few quick tips to make sure your 4th of July wreath stays beautiful all season long:

  • Avoid direct sunlight if possible β€” UV rays can fade ribbon and faux florals quickly.
  • Use a wreath hanger, not a nail alone. A proper wreath hanger protects your door and gives you better balance.
  • Store it properly. After the holiday, store your wreath in a large zip bag or wreath storage box to keep it dust-free and ready for next year.
  • Add a waterproof spray to ribbon wreaths if they’ll be outside β€” it helps resist humidity and light rain.
