Quick Verdict
I used the lighter shade all over and it gave me a glowy, dewy look before I even finished blending. On my red, blotchy skin I still layered it under a tinted moisturizer, but I quite like this and we’ll definitely keep using it.
Buy if you:
- Want a glowy, dewy finish instead of anything matte
- Have mature skin and miss that youthful luminous look
- Like one product you can wear alone, under foundation, or on your neck
- Want a bronzed option too by choosing a darker shade
Skip if you:
- Have redness or blotchiness you need covered, this alone won’t do it for you
- Prefer a matte, shine-free finish
- Want full foundation-level coverage in one bottle

The Dewy Glow Won Me Over On My Neck
I added some to my neck almost as an afterthought, and that’s the moment I decided I liked this. This is the L’Oreal Paris True Match Lumi Glotion, and it’s kind of interesting because if you use it lighter, it goes all over and gives you kind of a glowy, dewy look. If you want more of a bronzed face instead of bronzing drops or contour, you go a darker shade. I went with the lighter one, and you can grab it on Amazon here.
The short version: it gave me a glow at the jawline I didn’t know I was missing. Here’s exactly how it wore.
What The Lumi Glotion Is
It’s a liquid glow lotion that hydrates and luminizes at the same time. The formula is infused with glycerin and shea butter for all-day hydration, so instead of a powder highlighter sitting on top of dry patches, this is a lotion you actually work into the skin. It comes in 5 shades made to cover a range of skin tones, and I went with the lighter option because I was after that glowy, dewy look rather than the bronze.
You can wear it three ways: alone, under foundation, or on target areas like your cheekbones and body. That flexibility is really the whole point of it.

How It Wore On My Skin
The glow showed up before I’d finished blending, I’m not exaggerating that. I dabbed a little on, went back for more, and by the time I reached my cheekbones the lighter shade had already done its thing.

Here’s the part about my own face: I tend to be a little red and blotchy, so I like to use a tinted moisturizer anyway. I put the Glotion on underneath and let the tinted moisturizer even things out over top. My daughters, on the other hand, will just use this by itself because they have nice skin. So the “wear it alone” claim holds up if your skin is already even.
The neck was the surprise win. I added some down there to bring the same effect down, because I think sometimes I forget to do that. It kept the glow consistent instead of stopping abruptly at my jaw, which is exactly what you want as you get older.
It Won’t Hide Redness On Its Own
The one thing to know: this is a glow product, not a coverage product. On my red, blotchy skin, wearing it alone wasn’t enough. It gives beautiful luminosity, but it doesn’t neutralize color or hide blotchiness, so I still reached for a tinted moisturizer over top. That’s not a flaw in the Glotion, it’s just what it is. If you go in expecting it to replace foundation on uneven skin, you’ll be a little let down.

Why Mature Skin Loves This
Here’s the irony: in our twenties we blotted this exact finish away because it looked oily. On mature skin, that same dewiness reads as youth. And because the glycerin and shea butter are actually working into the skin, it doesn’t do what powder highlighters do, it doesn’t grab dry patches and announce them.
Advice Before You Buy
Pick your shade based on the finish you want, not just your skin tone. The lighter shades lean glowy and dewy, and the darker shades let you use it more like bronzing drops or a soft contour. I went lighter because I wanted glow, not bronze.
Start with less than you think. I added a little at a time and went back for more, which is easier than trying to tone it down after the fact. And don’t forget your neck. I nearly did, and bringing the glow down past your jaw is what keeps it from looking like it stops at your face. You can check the current price and shade options at the Amazon listing here.
Pros
- Gives a glowy, dewy finish almost instantly
- Hydrating formula with glycerin and shea butter, no cling to dry patches
- Flexible: wear it alone, under foundation, or on your neck and body
- Lighter shades glow, darker shades work like bronzing drops
- Reads youthful on mature skin rather than oily
Cons
- Doesn’t cover redness or blotchiness on its own
- Not for anyone who wants a matte finish
- You’ll likely still want a tinted moisturizer or foundation over top if your skin is uneven
Frequently Asked Questions
Can you wear the Lumi Glotion by itself?
Yes, if your skin is already fairly even. My daughters wear it alone because they have nice skin. I have redness, so I layer it under a tinted moisturizer. It works either way.
Which shade should I get for a glow versus a bronze look?
Go lighter for a glowy, dewy look and darker for a bronzed face. The darker shades act almost like bronzing drops or a soft contour. I chose the lighter one because I wanted glow, not bronze.
Is the Lumi Glotion good for mature skin?
Yes, it’s one of my favorite things about it. The dewy finish reads youthful on mature skin instead of oily, and the hydrating formula doesn’t cling to dry patches the way powder highlighters do.
Can I mix it into my foundation?
Yes, it’s made to be worn alone, mixed with foundation, or applied to target areas. Mixing a drop into foundation is an easy way to add glow across the whole face without extra steps.
Will it work on my neck and body too?
Yes, it’s a face and body highlighter. I add some to my neck to bring the glow down past my jaw so it doesn’t stop abruptly. It works the same way on shoulders or collarbones.
Does it help if I have dry skin?
Yes, that’s a strong point. The glycerin and shea butter hydrate as you wear it, so instead of highlighting dry patches it smooths the look of them. That’s the opposite of what a lot of powder highlighters do.
How does it compare to bronzing drops?
The darker shades of this glow lotion can stand in for bronzing drops if you want a sun-kissed look. The difference is it also hydrates, so you’re getting glow and moisture in one bottle rather than just color.
Is this a good pick for makeup beginners?
Yes, it’s beginner-friendly because it’s forgiving. You add a little at a time with your fingers, there’s no brush technique to learn, and it blends into the skin rather than sitting on top where mistakes show.
